Entrance Antiphon

When he calls on me, I will answer him; I will deliver him and give him glory. I will grant him length of days.

Processional Hymn - Hosea

Come back to me with all your heart.
Don’t let fear keep us apart.

Trees do bend,
‘though straight and tall;
so must we to others’ call.
Long have I waited for your
coming home to me
and living deeply
our new life.

The wilderness will lead you
to your heart where I will speak.

Integrity and justice,
with tenderness,
you shall know.
Long have I waited for your
coming home to me
and living deeply
our new life.

You shall sleep
secure in peace;
faithfulness will be your joy.
Long have I waited for your
coming home to me
and living deeply
our new life.

Liturgy of the Word

First Reading - Deut. 26:4-10

Moses spoke to the people, saying:
“The priest shall receive the basket from you
and shall set it in front of the altar of the LORD, your God.
Then you shall declare before the Lord, your God, ‘My father was a wandering Aramean
who went down to Egypt with a small household and lived there as an alien.
But there he became a nation great, strong, and numerous.
When the Egyptians maltreated and oppressed us, imposing hard labor upon us,
we cried to the LORD, the God of our fathers, and he heard our cry and saw our affliction, our toil, and our oppression.
He brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand and outstretched arm, with terrifying power, with signs and wonders;
and bringing us into this country,
he gave us this land flowing with milk and honey.
Therefore, I have now brought you the firstfruits of the products of the soil
which you, O LORD, have given me.’
And having set them before the LORD, your God, you shall bow down in his presence.”

The Word of the Lord

ALL: Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm –
Psalm 91

R.  Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble; be with me, Lord, be with me.

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
and abide in the shadow of God,
say to the LORD, “My refuge and strength
my God in whom I trust.”
R.  Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble; be with me, Lord, be with me.

Evil will not fall upon you;
no affliction will find your door,
for the angels have been sent to protect you,
to guard you in all of your ways.
R.  Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble; be with me, Lord, be with me.

If you stumble, they will catch you,
they will keep you from falling down.
From the den of the lion and the threat of the snake, you will escape unharmed.
R.  Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble; be with me, Lord, be with me.

Call and I will answer, says the Lord,
cling to me with your life, there is nothing you should fear.
R.  Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble; be with me, Lord, be with me.

2nd Reading – Romans 10:8-13

Brothers and sisters:
What does Scripture say?
            The word is near you,
in your mouth and in your heart
—that is, the word of faith that we preach—,
for, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
For the Scripture says,
            No one who believes in him will be put to shame.
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek;
the same Lord is Lord of all, enriching all who call upon him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

The Word of the Lord

ALL: Thanks be to God

Gospel Acclamation

R: Glory to you, O Word of God, Lord Jesus Christ! Glory to you, O Word of God, Lord Jesus Christ!

Gospel –
Luke 4:1-13

Priest or Deacon: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And with your spirit.

Priest/Deacon: A reading from the Gospel according to Luke.
ALL: Glory to you, O Lord (while make a small sign of the Cross on the forehead, lips, and chest).

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days,
to be tempted by the devil.
He ate nothing during those days,
and when they were over he was hungry.
The devil said to him,
“If you are the Son of God,
command this stone to become bread.”
Jesus answered him,
“It is written, One does not live on bread alone.”
Then he took him up and showed him
all the kingdoms of the world in a single instant.
The devil said to him,
“I shall give to you all this power and glory;
for it has been handed over to me,
and I may give it to whomever I wish.
All this will be yours, if you worship me.”
Jesus said to him in reply,
“It is written
            You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him alone shall you serve.
Then he led him to Jerusalem, made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him,
“If you are the Son of God,
throw yourself down from here, for it is written:
            He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,
 and:
            With their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Jesus said to him in reply,
“It also says,
            You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.
When the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from him for a time.

The Gospel of the Lord.

ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Homily (please sit)

Nicene Creed (please stand)

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

General Intercessions:

After each prayer, respond: Lord, hear our prayer.

Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish

Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.

Offertory Song - Into the Desert

1. Come, beloved, and rest your mind;
leave the things of this world behind.
Here I will be your daily bread,
all that you need.

Into the desert I will lead;
here in the silence my word will speak.
And you will find the peace you seek
here in the desert.

2. Stay, beloved, and lose your fear;
there is healing and mercy here.
Here I will be a living stream,
all that you need.

3. From this desert your life will bloom;
out of despair is hope renewed.
And from this death you shall arise,
arise with me.

Communion Song -

Communion 2 - Reckless Love

Before I spoke a word You were singing over me
You have been so so good to me
Before I took a breath You breathed Your life in me
You have been so so kind to me

O the overwhelming never-ending reckless
Love of God
O it chases me down fights 'til I'm found
Leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it I don't deserve it
Still You give Yourself away
O the overwhelming never-ending reckless
Love of God

When I was Your foe still Your love fought for me
You have been so so good to me
When I felt no worth You paid it all for me
You have been so so kind to me

There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me

Closing Song - Be Not Afraid

1. You shall cross the barren desert,
but you shall not die of thirst.
You shall wander far in safety
though you do not know the way.
You shall speak your words in foreign lands
and all will understand.
You shall see the face of God and live.

Be not afraid.
I go before you always.
Come, follow me, and I will give you rest.

2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.
If you walk amid the burning flames,
you shall not be harmed.
If you stand before the pow’r of hell
and death is at your side,
know that I am with you through it all.
