Welcome to Our Lady of Angels, where we strive "To love God, Embrace all People, and Share the Gospel Joyfully."

Visit our website to find out more about our community.

We will use Mass of Communion by Matt Maher for our Mass setting during the Christmas season.

Entrance Antiphon -

After the Lord was baptized, the heavens were opened and the Spirit descended upon him like a dove, and the voice of the Father thundered, “This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.”

Processional Hymn - Baptized in Water

  1. Baptized in water,
    Sealed by the Spirit,
Cleansed by the blood of Christ our King:
    Heirs of salvation,
    Trusting his promise,
Faithfully now God's praise we sing.

  2. Baptized in water,
    Sealed by the Spirit,
Dead in the tomb with Christ our King:
    One with his rising,
    Freed and forgiven,
Thankfully now God's praise we sing.

  3. Baptized in water,
    Sealed by the Spirit,
Marked with the sign of Christ our King:
    Born of one Father,
    We are his children,
Joyfully now God's praise we sing.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

1st Reading – Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11

Comfort, give comfort to my people,
says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her service is at an end, her guilt is expiated, indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.

A voice cries out:
In the desert prepare the way of the LORD! Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God!
Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low;
the rugged land shall be made a plain, the rough country, a broad valley.
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Go up on to a high mountain, Zion, herald of glad tidings, cry out at the top of your voice, Jerusalem, herald of good news!
Fear not to cry out and say to the cities of Judah: Here is your God!
Here comes with power, the Lord GOD,
who rules by a strong arm; here is his reward with him, his recompense before him.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; in his arms he gathers the lambs, carrying them in his bosom, and leading the ewes with care.

The Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm –
Psalm 104

2nd Reading –
Titus 2:11–14, 3:4–7

Beloved:
The grace of God has appeared, saving all
and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of our great God and savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good.

When the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy,
He saved us through the bath of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.

The Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.

Gospel Acclamation -

Alleluia alleluia

Allelu alleluia

Alleluia alleluia

Allelu allelu alleluia

Gospel -
Luke 3:15–16, 21–22

Priest or Deacon: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And with your spirit.

Priest/Deacon: A reading from the Gospel according to Luke.
ALL: Glory to you, O Lord (while make a small sign of the Cross on the forehead, lips, and chest).

The people were filled with expectation,
and all were asking in their hearts
whether John might be the Christ.
John answered them all, saying,
“I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

After all the people had been baptized
and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove.
And a voice came from heaven,
“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Homily (please sit)

Nicene Creed (please stand)

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

General Intercessions:

After each prayer, respond: Lord, hear our prayer.

Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish

Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.

Offertory Hymn - When John Baptized by Jordan’s River

1. When John baptized by Jordan's river
In faith and hope the people came,
That John and Jordan might deliver
Their troubled souls from sin and shame.
They came to seek a new beginning,
The human spirit's ageless quest,
Repentance, and an end of sinning,
Renouncing ev'ry wrong confessed.

2. There as the Lord, baptized and praying,
Rose from the stream, the sinless one,
A voice was heard from heaven saying,
’This is my own beloved Son.'
There as the Father's word was spoken,
Not in the pow'r of wind and flame,
But of his love and peace the token,
Seen as a dove, the Spirit came.

3. O Son of Man, our nature sharing,
In whose obedience all are blest,
Savior, our sins and sorrows bearing,
Hear us and grant us this request:
Daily to grow, by grace defended,
Filled with the Spirit from above;
In Christ baptized, beloved, befriended,
Children of God in peace and love.

Communion Hymn - 10,000 Reasons

Bless the Lord O my soul O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

You're rich in love and You're slow to anger
Your name is great and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Communion Song 2 - Come to the Water

  1. O let all who thirst,
let them come to the water.
And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord:
    without money, without price.
Why should you pay the price,
    except for the Lord?

  2. And let all who seek,
let them come to the water.
And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord:
    without money, without strife.
Why should you spend your life,
    except for the Lord?

  3. And let all who toil,
let them come to the water.
And let all who are weary,
let them come to the Lord:
    all who labor, without rest.
How can your soul find rest,
    except for the Lord?

  4. And let all the poor,
let them come to the water,
Bring the ones who are laden,
bring them all to the Lord:
    bring the children without might.
    Easy the load and light:
    come to the Lord.

Recessional - O Christ, the Great Foundation

1. O Christ the great foundation
On which your people stand
To preach your true salvation
In ev'ry age and land:
Pour out your Holy Spirit
To make us strong and pure,
To keep the faith unbroken
As long as worlds endure.

2. Baptized in one confession,
One church in all the earth,
We bear our Lord's impression,
The sign of second birth:
One holy people gathered
In love beyond our own,
By grace we were invited,
By grace we make you known.

3. Where tyrants' hold is tightened,
Where strong devour the weak,
Where innocents are frightened
The righteous fear to speak,
There let your church awaking
Attack the pow'rs of sin
And, all their ramparts breaking,
With you the victory win.

4. This is the moment glorious
When he who once was dead
Shall lead his church victorious,
Their champion and their head.
The Lord of all creation
His heav'nly kingdom brings
The final consummation,
The glory of all things.
