30th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Processional Song - Our God is Here
Here in this time here in this place
Here we are standing face to face
Here in our hearts here in our lives
Our God is here
Here for the broken here for the strong
Here in this temple we belong
Here in our hearts here in our lives
Our God is here
And we cry holy holy holy are You
We cry holy holy holy and true
Amen we do believe our God is here
Our God is here
Here in the Word God is revealed
Here where the wounded can be healed
Here in our hearts here in our lives
Our God is here
Here we become what we receive
Here in this Eucharistic feast
We are His body living as one
Our God is here
First Reading - Sirach 35:12-14, 14-16
The LORD is a God of justice,
who knows no favorites. Though not unduly partial toward the weak, yet he hears the cry of the oppressed. The Lord is not deaf to the wail of the orphan, nor to the widow when she pours out her complaint. The one who serves God willingly is heard; his petition reaches the heavens.
The prayer of the lowly pierces the clouds;
it does not rest till it reaches its goal,
nor will it withdraw till the Most High responds,
judges justly and affirms the right,
and the Lord will not delay.
Responsorial Psalm -
Psalm 34
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord.
Second Reading - 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18
Beloved:
I am already being poured out like a libation,
and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have competed well; I have finished the race;
I have kept the faith.
From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge,
will award to me on that day, and not only to me,
but to all who have longed for his appearance.
At my first defense no one appeared on my behalf,
but everyone deserted me.
May it not be held against them!
But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength,
so that through me the proclamation might be completed and all the Gentiles might hear it.
And I was rescued from the lion's mouth.
The Lord will rescue me from every evil threat
and will bring me safe to his heavenly kingdom.
To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Gospel - Luke 18:9-14
Jesus addressed this parable
to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else.
"Two people went up to the temple area to pray;
one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself,
'O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity -- greedy, dishonest, adulterous -- or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.'
But the tax collector stood off at a distance
and would not even raise his eyes to heaven
but beat his breast and prayed, 'O God, be merciful to me a sinner.'
I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for whoever exalts himself will be humbled,
and the one who humbles himself will be exalted."
Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish
Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.
Offertory Song - Empty and Beautiful
My past won't stop haunting me
In this prison there's a fight between who I am
And who I used to be
This thorn in my side is a grace
For because of it the flesh and blood of God
Was offered in my place my place
You fought the fight in me
You chased me down and finished the race
I was blind but now I see
Jesus You kept the faith in me
Where did my best friends go
At my defense they disappeared
Just like Your friends did to You oh Lord
But You were there You gave me strength
So this little one might come to know
The glory of Your name Your name
I'm waiting and set apart
Like incense to Your heart
A libation I'm pouring out
Empty and beautiful beautiful beautiful
Jesus You kept the faith in me
Savior You kept the faith in me
Communion Song - No Other Name
One Name
Holds weight above them all
His fame
Outlasts the earth He formed
His praise
Resounds beyond the stars
And echoes in our hearts
The greatest One of all
His face
Shines brighter than the sun
His grace
As boundless as His love
He reigns
With healing in His wings
The King above all kings
The greatest One of all
Lift up our eyes see the King has come
Light of the world
Reaching out for us
There is no other Name
There is no other Name
Jesus Christ our God oh
Seated on high the undefeated One
Mountains bow down as we lift Him up
There is no other Name
There is no other Name
Jesus Christ our God oh
Find hope
When all the world seems lost
Behold
The triumph of the cross
His power has trampled death and grave
Our life found in His Name
The greatest Name of all
The earth will shake
And tremble before Him
Chains will break
As heaven and earth sing
Holy is the Name
Holy is the Name of Jesus Jesus Jesus
There is no other Name
There is no other Name
Jesus
Recessional Song - Battle Belongs
When all I see is the battle
You see my victory
When all I see is a mountain
You see a mountain moved
And as I walk through the shadow
Your love surrounds me
There's nothing to fear now
For I am safe with You
So when I fight I'll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
O God the battle belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I'll sing through the night
O God the battle belongs to You
And if You are for me
Who can be against me
For Jesus there's nothing
Impossible for You
When all I see are the ashes
You see the beauty
When all I see is a cross
God You see the empty tomb
(An) Almighty Fortress You go before us
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God
You shine in the shadows
You win every battle
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God
