The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

Processional Song - Everlasting God

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Our God You reign forever
Our Hope our strong Deliv'rer

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

First Reading - 2 Sam. 5:1-3

In those days, all the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron and said:
"Here we are, your bone and your flesh.
In days past, when Saul was our king,
it was you who led the Israelites out and brought them back.
And the LORD said to you,
'You shall shepherd my people Israel
and shall be commander of Israel.'"
When all the elders of Israel came to David in Hebron, King David made an agreement with them there before the LORD,
and they anointed him king of Israel.

Responsorial Psalm -
Psalm 122

R: Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

I rejoiced when they said to me,
"Let us go to the house of the LORD."
And now our feet are standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem.

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.
Jerusalem is built as a city
with unity and strength.
It is there, it is there that the tribes go up,
the tribes of the LORD.

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.
For Israel’s law is to praise God’s name
and there to give God thanks.
There are set the judgment thrones
for all of David’s house.
R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

Second Reading - Col. 1:12-20

Brothers and sisters:
Let us give thanks to the Father,
who has made you fit to share
in the inheritance of the holy ones in light.
He delivered us from the power of darkness
and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of all creation.
For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him.
He is before all things,
and in him all things hold together.
He is the head of the body, the church.
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,
that in all things he himself might be preeminent.
For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell,
and through him to reconcile all things for him,
making peace by the blood of his cross
through him, whether those on earth or those in heaven.

Gospel - Luke 23:35-43

The rulers sneered at Jesus and said,
"He saved others, let him save himself
if he is the chosen one, the Christ of God."
Even the soldiers jeered at him.
As they approached to offer him wine they called out, "If you are King of the Jews, save yourself."
Above him there was an inscription that read,
"This is the King of the Jews."

Now one of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus, saying,
"Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us."
The other, however, rebuking him, said in reply,
"Have you no fear of God,
for you are subject to the same condemnation?
And indeed, we have been condemned justly,
for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes, but this man has done nothing criminal."
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
He replied to him, "Amen, I say to you,
today you will be with me in Paradise."

Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish

Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.

Communion - Always

I believe You gave sight to the blind
I believe that the dead came to life
I believe there were wonders and signs
And You're still the same

I believe every word that You said
I believe there are scars in Your hands
That Your goodness is good without end
And You'll never change

I will tell of Your wonders sing of Your grace
The God of creation knows me by name
The Lord is faithful yesterday now and always
Always

Your mercy is mighty age after age
All generations will bow down and praise
The Lord is faithful yesterday now and always
Always

I believe You will come in the clouds
I believe You are here even now
In Your presence I know there is power
Power to save oh

You were You are You always will be God
You were You are You always will be God
Yes You always will be God

Your mercy is mighty age after age
All generations will bow down and praise
The Lord is faithful yesterday now and always

Recessional - Battle Belongs

When all I see is the battle
You see my victory
When all I see is a mountain
You see a mountain moved
And as I walk through the shadow
Your love surrounds me
There's nothing to fear now
For I am safe with You

So when I fight I'll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
O God the battle belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I'll sing through the night
O God the battle belongs to You

And if You are for me
Who can be against me
For Jesus there's nothing
Impossible for You
When all I see are the ashes
You see the beauty
When all I see is a cross
God You see the empty tomb

(An) Almighty Fortress You go before us
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God
You shine in the shadows
You win every battle
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God
