The Baptism of the Lord
Processional Hymn - Let the River Flow
Let the poor man say
I am rich in Him
Let the lost man say
I am found in Him
Let the river flow
Let the blind man say
I can see again
Let the dead man say
I am born again
Let the river flow
Let the river flow
Let the river flow
Let the river flow
Holy Spirit come
Move in power
Let the river flow
1st Reading – Isaiah 40:1-5,9-10
Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her service is at an end, her guilt is expiated; indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.
A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the LORD!
Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God!
Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low; the rugged land shall be made a plain, the rough country, a broad valley.
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
Go up on to a high mountain, Zion, herald of glad tidings; cry out at the top of your voice, Jerusalem, herald of good news!
Fear not to cry out and say to the cities of Judah: Here is your God!
Here comes with power the Lord GOD, who rules by a strong arm; here is his reward with him, his recompense before him.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; in his arms he gathers the lambs, carrying them in his bosom, and leading the ewes with care.
Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 29
R: The Lord will bless his people, bless His people with peace. The Lord will bless his people, bless His people with peace.
2nd Reading – Titus 2:11-14 3:4-7
Beloved:
The grace of God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of our great God and savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good.
When the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.
Gospel – Luke 3:15-16,21-22
The people were filled with expectation, and all were asking in their hearts whether John might be the Christ.
John answered them all, saying, “I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming.
“I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.
“He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove.
And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish
Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.
Amen.
Offertory Hymn - Timeless
You are mystery, You are eternity
You are infinite, You are fidelity
You are the great unknown, yet your name is known
You are the only way, You are the Living stone
You are above reproach, You are beyond fame
You are beyond the earth who trembles at your name
Jesus, Jesus, yesterday, today and forever
You are the word made flesh, You are Emmanuel
You are the Son of man, You are the great I AM
The mountains melt like wax, Your will is it’s command
You shape and form our hearts, like clay in potters hands
The righteous judge, You are the thrashing roar
You are the silence in the middle of the storm
You never change you never change you never change…
…Your love remains the same
…Your time remains the same
…Your truth remains the same
…Your love remains the same
Your Timeless
Communion Hymn - Jesus
There is a truth older than the ages
There is a promise of things yet to come
There is One born for our salvation
Jesus
There is a light that overwhelms the darkness
There is a kingdom that forever reigns
There is freedom from the chains that bind us
Jesus, Jesus
Who walks on the waters
Who speaks to the sea
Who stands in the fire beside me
He roars like a lion
He bled as the Lamb
He carries my healing in His hands
Jesus
There is a name I call in times of trouble
There is a song that comforts in the night
There is a voice that calms the storm that rages
He is Jesus Jesus
Who walks on the waters
Who speaks to the sea
Who stands in the fire beside me
He roars like a lion
He bled as the Lamb
He carries my healing in His hands
Jesus
Messiah
My Savior
There is power in Your name
You're my rock and my Redeemer
There is power in Your name
In Your name
You walk on the waters
You speak to the sea
You stand in the fire beside me
You roar like a lion
You bled as the Lamb
You carry my healing in Your hands
God
Jesus, There is no one like You
Jesus, There is no one like You
Recessional Hymn - Lion and the Lamb
He's coming on the clouds
Kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break
As broken hearts declare His praise
For who can stop the Lord Almighty
Our God is the Lion
The Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power
And fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb
The Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world
His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before Him
So open up the gates
Make way before the King of kings
The God who comes to save
Is here to set the captives free
For who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord (Almighty)
