Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Processional Hymn - Lion and the Lamb
He's coming on the clouds
Kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break
As broken hearts declare His praise
For who can stop the Lord Almighty
And our God is the lion
The Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power
And fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the lamb
The lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world
His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the lion and the lamb
Every knee will bow before Him
So, open up the gates
Make way before the King of Kings
The God who comes to save
Is here to set the captives free
For who can stop the Lord Almighty
First Reading - Job 38:1,8-11
The Lord addressed Job out of the storm and said:
Who shut within doors the sea, when it burst forth from the womb; when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling bands?
When I set limits for it and fastened the bar of its door, and said: Thus far shall you come but no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stilled!
Responsorial Psalm - Psalm 107
R. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love is everlasting.
Some went down to the sea in ships, to trade on the mighty waters.
These have seen the deeds of the LORD, the wonders he does in the deep.
R. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love is everlasting.
For he spoke and raised up the storm-wind, tossing the high wave of the sea that surged to heaven and dropped to the depths.
Their souls melted away in their distress.
R. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love is everlasting.
Then they cried to the LORD in their need, and he rescued them from their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper, and the waves of the sea were hushed.
R. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love is everlasting.
They rejoiced because of the calm, and he led them to the haven they desire.
Let them thank the LORD for his mercy, his wonders for the children of men.
R. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love is everlasting.
Second Reading - Corinthians 5:14-17
Brothers and sisters:
The love of Christ impels us, once we have come to the conviction that one died for all; therefore, all have died.
He indeed died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
Consequently, from now on we regard no one according to the flesh; even if we once knew Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no longer.
So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.
Gospel - Mark 4:35-41
On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples: “Let us cross to the other side.”
Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.
And other boats were with him.
A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up.
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion.
They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”
He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!”
The wind ceased and there was great calm.
Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified?
Do you not yet have faith?”
They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”
Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish
Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.
Communion Hymn - Oceans
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep, My faith will stand
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours, You are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed
And You won't start now
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and I unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
Recessional Hymn - Declare Victory
The dawn breaks upon us with tender compassion
To shine in the darkness and we become your righteousness
Your promise of mercy, how made true on calvary
Our ransom has been paid and now we prepare the way
Declare victory! You set us free!
For from you and through you and for you are all things
To you be all glory, all honour, all blessing
For from you and through you and for you are all things
To you be all glory, all honour, all blessing
From all sins and evil, from the snares of the devil
From your wrath, from our death, from a doubtful heart
That chokes on human breath
You deliver me! You set us free!
For from you and through you and for you are all things
To you be all glory, all honour, all blessing
For from you and through you and for you are all things
To you be all glory, all honour, all blessing
Hallelujah
