Processional Hymn - Christ, Be Our Light!

Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,
light for the world to see.

Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has pow'r to save us.
Make us your living voice.

Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us your bread, broken for others,
shared until all are fed.

Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

Longing for warmth, many are cold.
Make us your building, sheltering others,
walls made of living stone.

Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

Many the hearts that yearn to belong.
Let us be servants to one another,
making your kingdom come.

Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

First Reading - Ezekiel 36:24-28

I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the lands, and bring you back to your own soil.
I will sprinkle clean water over you to make you clean; from all your impurities and from all your idols I will cleanse you.
I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
I will put my spirit within you so that you walk in my statutes, observe my ordinances, and keep them.
You will live in the land I gave to your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.

Responsorial Psalm - Psalm 104

R. LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.
LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.

Bless the Lord, my soul, Lord God, how great you are.
Clothed in majesty and glory, wrapped in light as in a robe.

R. LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.
LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.

How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you have made them all.
The earth is full of your riches. Bless the Lord, my soul!

R. LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.
LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.

May the glory of the Lord last forever. May our thoughts always please the Lord.
May the Lord rejoice in his works. Bless the Lord, my spirit!

R. LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.
LORD, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.

Second Reading - 1 Corinthians 12:4-13

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.
To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues.
But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.
As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

Gospel - Luke 4:16-22

He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom* into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them, “Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.
They also asked, “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?”

Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish

Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.

Communion Hymn - Like the Bread

Like the bread, we are taken.
Like the Christ, we are blessed
On this altar, we are broken,
Giv’n as food that all might live.
Giv’n as food that all might live.

How quickly we reject ourselves, blinded from our call.
We resign to live in fear of love, of self, of all.
This is not the will of God, for the chosen must be free.
We are taken by the love of Christ to live eternally.

Like the bread, we are taken.
Like the Christ, we are blessed
On this altar, we are broken,
Giv’n as food that all might live.
Giv’n as food that all might live.

Broken like the bred of life, we often flee from pain.
We resign to live our lives, no knowing death’s true gain.
This is not the will of God, for in dying we will live.
The cross, a sign of victory and of the healing it will give.

Like the bread, we are taken.
Like the Christ, we are blessed
On this altar, we are broken,
Giv’n as food that all might live.
Giv’n as food that all might live.

Some say it is good to have, but the faithful learn to give.
Like the saints of old who lived prepared we become like Christ—to feed, to share.

Like the bread, we are taken.
Like the Christ, we are blessed
On this altar, we are broken,
Giv’n as food that all might live.
Giv’n as food that all might live.

Spiritual Communion Prayer

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and I unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

Recessional Hymn - We Ever Will Praise You

We ever will praise you; we ever will sing
Sweet psalms of joy to you our king.
O Maker of heaven, of earth and the sea,
Sweet psalms of joy we ever will sing.

We ever will praise you; we ever will sing
Sweet psalms of joy to you our king.
O Maker of heaven, of earth and the sea,
Sweet psalms of joy we ever will sing.

Happy are those whose helper is the Lord
Whoever was and evermore shall be.
All who are blind, well, they shall see,
The prisoners set free, the hungry, they shall eat.

We ever will praise you; we ever will sing
Sweet psalms of joy to you our king.
O Maker of heaven, of earth and the sea,
Sweet psalms of joy we ever will sing.

Blessed are those whose hope is in the Lord;
The lowly shall be raised, the fatherless sustained.
Loved are the ones who live in righteousness,
The widowed and the orphaned, they are not forsaken.

We ever will praise you; we ever will sing
Sweet psalms of joy to you our king.
O Maker of heaven, of earth and the sea,
Sweet psalms of joy we ever will sing.
