Processional Hymn - 877 - How Good, Lord, to be Here
1. How good, Lord, to be here!
Your glory fills the night;
Your face and garments, like the sun,
Shine with unborrowed light.
2. How good, Lord, to be here,
Your beauty to behold
Where Moses and Elijah stand,
Your messengers of old.
3. Fulfiller of the past
And hope of things to be,
We hail your body glorified
And our redemption see.
4. Before we taste of death,
We see your kingdom come;
We long to hold the vision bright
And make this hill our home.
5. How good, Lord, to be here!
Yet we may not remain;
But since you bid us leave the mount,
Come with us to the plain.
Text: Luke 9:32-33; Joseph A. Robinson, 1858-1933, alt.
Greeting:
Priest: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And with your spirit.
Kyrie:
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Gloria
(from Mass of the Spirit, written by Nina McKay for the people of Our Lady of Angels)
Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you,
We glorify you,
We give you thanks for your great glory.
Lord God, heavenly king,
O God, Almighty Father.
Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Lord, Jesus Christ,
Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
You take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
You take away the sins of the world,
Receive our prayer;
You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!
For you alone are the Holy One,
You alone are the Lord,
You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father,
Amen, amen.
Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Collect

First Reading -
Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14
Thrones were set up
and the Ancient One took his throne.
His clothing was bright as snow,
and the hair on his head as white as wool;
his throne was flames of fire,
with wheels of burning fire.
A surging stream of fire
flowed out from where he sat;
Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him,
and myriads upon myriads attended him.
The court was convened and the books were opened.
As the visions during the night continued, I saw:
One like a Son of man coming,
on the clouds of heaven;
When he reached the Ancient One
and was presented before him,
The one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship;
all peoples, nations, and languages serve him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion
that shall not be taken away,
his kingship shall not be destroyed.
The Word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm -
Ps. 97
R. The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth; the Lord is King.
The LORD is king; let the earth rejoice;
let the many islands be glad.
Cloud and darkness surround him,
justice and judgment are the foundation of his throne.
R. The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth; the Lord is King.
The mountains melt like wax
before the face of the LORD,
before the face of the LORD of all the earth.
The skies proclaim his justice;
all peoples see his glory.
R. The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth; the Lord is King.
For you, indeed, are the Lord,
Most High above all the earth,
exalted far above all gods,
exalted far above all gods.
R. The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth; the Lord is King.
Second Reading -
2 Peter 1:16-19
Beloved:
We did not follow cleverly devised myths
when we made known to you
the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For he received honor and glory from God the Father
when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory,
"This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased."
We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven
while we were with him on the holy mountain.
Moreover, we possess the prophetic message that is altogether reliable.
You will do well to be attentive to it,
as to a lamp shining in a dark place,
until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
The Word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation
R: Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia!
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;
listen to him.
R: Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia!
Gospel -
Mt. 17:1-9
Priest or Deacon: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And with your spirit.
Priest/Deacon: A reading from the Gospel according to John.
ALL: Glory to you, O Lord (while make a small sign of the Cross on the forehead, lips, and chest).
Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother, John,
and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them;
his face shone like the sun
and his clothes became white as light.
And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them,
conversing with him.
Then Peter said to Jesus in reply,
"Lord, it is good that we are here.
If you wish, I will make three tents here,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
While he was still speaking, behold,
a bright cloud cast a shadow over them,
then from the cloud came a voice that said,
"This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him."
When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate
and were very much afraid.
But Jesus came and touched them, saying,
"Rise, and do not be afraid."
And when the disciples raised their eyes,
they saw no one else but Jesus alone.
As they were coming down from the mountain,
Jesus charged them,
"Do not tell the vision to anyone
until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."
The Gospel of the Lord.
ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Homily (please sit)
Nicene Creed (please stand)
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
General Intercessions:
After each prayer, respond: Lord, hear our prayer.

Offertory Song - 878 -
Transform Us
Transform us as you, transfigured,
Stood a part on Tabor's height.
Lead us up our sacred mountains,
Search us with revealing light.
Lift us from where we have fallen,
Full of questions, filled with fright.
Transform us as you, transfigured,
Once spoke with those holy ones.
We, surrounded by the witness
Of those saints whose work is done,
Live in this world as your Body,
Live in this world as your Body,
Chosen daughters, chosen sons.
Transform us as you, transfigured,
Would not stay within a shrine.
Keep us from our great temptation
Time and truth we quickly bind.
Lead us down those daily pathways
Where our love is not confined.

Communion Hymn - 961 - Remember Your Love
Remember your love and your faithfulness, O Lord. Remember your people and have mercy on us, Lord.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear?
The Lord is my life and my refuge; when I call God hears.
Remember your love and your faithfulness, O Lord. Remember your people and have mercy on us, Lord.
If you dwelt, O Lord, upon our sinfulness, then who could stand?
But with You there is mercy and forgiveness and a guiding hand.
Remember your love and your faithfulness, O Lord. Remember your people and have mercy on us, Lord.
O Lord, hear the sound of my call and answer me.
My heart cries out for Your presence; it is You I seek.
Remember your love and your faithfulness, O Lord. Remember your people and have mercy on us, Lord.
As a watchman who waits upon the daylight, wait for the Lord.
I trust in your kindness and redemption; and your faithful word.
Remember your love and your faithfulness, O Lord. Remember your people and have mercy on us, Lord.
Before all the mountains were begotten and earth took shape,
Even then, O Lord, You were our refuge throughout ev’ry age.
Remember your love and your faithfulness, O Lord. Remember your people and have mercy on us, Lord.
Closing Hymn - 766 - City of God
Awake from your slumber
Arise from your sleep
A new day is dawning
For all those who weep
The people in darkness
Have seen a great light
The lord of our longing
Has conquered the night
Let us build the city of God
May our tears
Be turned into dancing
For the lord
Our light and our love
Has turned the night into day
We are sons of the morning,
We are daughters of day.
The one who has loved us
Has brightened our way.
The lord of all kindness
Has called us to be
A light for his people
To set their hearts free.
Let us build the city of God
May our tears
Be turned into dancing
For the lord
Our light and our love
Has turned the night into day
