Processional Hymn - 545 - A Hymn of Glory Let Us Sing

A hymn of glory let us sing!
New songs throughout the world shall ring:
Alleluia, alleluia!
Christ, by a road before untrod,
Ascends unto the throne of God.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

The holy apostolic band
Upon the Mount of Olives stand,
Alleluia, alleluia!
And with his foll’wers they see
Their Lord ascend in majesty.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

To whom the shining angels cry,
“Why stand and gaze upon the sky?”
Alleluia, alleluia!
“This is the Savior,” thus they say.
“This is his glorious triumph day.”
Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

“You see him now, ascending high
Up to the portals of the sky.”
Alleluia, alleluia!
“Hereafter Jesus you shall see
returning in great majesty.”
Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

O Lord, our homeward pathway bend,
That our unwearied hearts ascend,
Alleluia, alleluia!
Where seated on your Father’s throne,
You reign as King of kings alone.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Greeting:

Priest: The Lord be with you.

ALL: And with your spirit.

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you,
We glorify you,
We give you thanks for your great glory.
Lord God, heavenly king,
O God, Almighty Father.

Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace to people of good will.

Lord, Jesus Christ,
Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
You take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
You take away the sins of the world,
Receive our prayer;
You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace to people of good will.

For you alone are the Holy One,
You alone are the Lord,
You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father,
Amen, amen.

Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace to people of good will.

First Reading -
Acts 1:1-11

In the first book, Theophilus,
I dealt with all that Jesus did and taught
until the day he was taken up,
after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit
to the apostles whom he had chosen.
He presented himself alive to them
by many proofs after he had suffered,
appearing to them during forty days
and speaking about the kingdom of God.
While meeting with them,
he enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem,
but to wait for “the promise of the Father
about which you have heard me speak;
for John baptized with water,
but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

When they had gathered together they asked him,
“Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
He answered them,
“It is not for you to know the times or seasons
that the Father has established by his own authority.
But you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”
When he had said this, as they were looking on,
he was lifted up, and a cloud
took him from their sight.
While they were looking intently at the sky as he was going,
suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them.
They said, “Men of Galilee,
why are you standing there looking at the sky?
This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven
will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”

The Word of the Lord.

ALL: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm - Psalm 47

R. God mounts his throne to shouts of joy. A blare of trumpets for the LORD.

All you peoples, clap your hands,
shout to God with cries of gladness!
For the LORD, the Most High,
is the great king over all the earth.
R. God mounts his throne to shouts of joy. A blare of trumpets for the LORD.

God mounts his throne amid shouts of joy;
the LORD amid trumpet blasts.
Sing Praise to our God, to God sing Praise;
Praise to our king, sing Praise.
R. God mounts his throne to shouts of joy. A blare of trumpets for the LORD.

For the king of all the earth is God;
sing hymns of praise.
God reigns over the nations,
God sits upon his holy throne.
R. God mounts his throne to shouts of joy. A blare of trumpets for the LORD.

Second Reading -
Eph. 1:17-23

Beloved:
Brothers and sisters:
May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
give you a Spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him.
May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call,
what are the riches of glory
in his inheritance among the holy ones,
and what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe,
in accord with the exercise of his great might, which he worked in Christ,
raising him from the dead
and seating him at his right hand in the heavens, far above every principality, authority, power, and dominion,
and every name that is named
not only in this age but also in the one to come.
And he put all things beneath his feet
and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body,
the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.

The Word of the Lord.

ALL: Thanks be to God.

Gospel -
Matthew 28:16-20

Priest or Deacon: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And with your spirit.

Priest/Deacon: A reading from the Gospel according to John.
ALL: Glory to you, O Lord (while make a small sign of the Cross on the forehead, lips, and chest).

The eleven disciples went to Galilee,
to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.
When they saw him,
they worshiped, but they doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them,
“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make
disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer for Our Lady of Angels Parish

Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us together and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.

Offertory Hymn - 678 - Dwelling Place

I fall on my knees to the Father of Jesus,
The Lord who has shown us, the glory of God.

May Christ in His love give us strength for our living,
The strength of the Spirit, the glory of God.

May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts,
May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love.

May grace and peace be yours in God our Father,

May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love.

Hallowed by your name.
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass
against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Priest: ... and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

All: For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

Invitation to Communion

Communion Hymn - 930 - Taste and Sing

Taste and see, taste and see
the goodness of the Lord.
Oh, taste and see, taste and see
the goodness of the Lord, of the Lord.

1. I will bless the Lord at all times.
Praise shall always be on my lips;
my soul shall glory in the Lord;
for God has been so good to me!

2. Glorify the Lord with me.
Together let us all praise God's name.
I called the Lord, who answered me;
from all my troubles I was set free.

3. Worship the Lord, all you people.
You’ll want for nothing if you ask.
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
in God we need put all our trust.

Communion Hymn 2 (if needed) - 457 - Sing of Mary, Pure and Lowly

Sing of Mary, pure and lowly,
Virgin mother undefiled,
Sing of God's own Son most holy,
Who became her little child.
Fairest child of fairest mother,
God the Lord who came to earth,
Word made flesh, our very brother,
Takes our nature by his birth.

Sing of Jesus, son of Mary,
In the home at Nazareth.
Toil and labor cannot weary
Love enduring unto death.
Constant was the love he gave her,
Though he went forth from her side,
Forth to preach, and heal, and suffer,
Till on Calvary he died.

Glory be to God the Father;
Glory be to God the Son;
Glory be to God the Spirit;
Glory to the Three in One.
From the heart of blessed Mary,
From all saints the song ascends,
And the Church the strain reechoes
Unto earth's remotest ends.

Closing Song - 546 - Go to the World!

Go to the World! Go into all the earth.
Go preach the cross where Christ renews life’s worth,
Baptizing as the sign of our rebirth.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Go to the World! Go into every place.
Go live the word of God’s redeeming grace.
Go seek God’s presence in each time and space.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Go to the World! Go struggle, bless, and pray.
The nights of tears give way to joyous day.
As servant Church, you follow Christ’s own way.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Go to the World! Go as the ones I send.
For I am am with you till the age shall end,
When all the hosts of glory cry “Amen!”
Alleluia! Alleluia!
