Thanksgiving
Processional Hymn - 635 - Let All Things Now Living
Let all things now living
a song of thanksgiving
To God the creator
triumphantly raise.
Who fashioned and made us,
protected and stayed us,
And guides us with care
to the end of our days.
God's banners are o'er us, God’s light goes before us,
A pillar of fire shining forth in the night.
Till shadows have vanished
and darkness is banished
As forward we travel from light into light.
God rules all the forces,
the stars in their courses
And sun in its orbit obediently shine;
The hills and the mountains,
the rivers and fountains,
The deeps of the ocean
proclaim God divine.
We too should be voicing
our love and rejoicing;
With glad adoration
a song let us raise
Till all things now living
unite in thanksgiving:
”To God in the highest,
hosanna and praise!”
First Reading - 1 Kings 8:55-61
King Solomon stood and blessed the whole congregation of Israel, saying in a loud voice: “Blessed be the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not a single word has gone unfulfilled of the entire generous promise he made through his servant Moses. May the LORD, our God, be with us as he was with our fathers and may he not forsake us nor cast us off. May he draw our hearts to himself, that we may follow him in everything and keep the commands, statutes, and ordinances that he enjoined on our fathers. May this prayer I have offered to the LORD, our God, be present to the him day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and of his people Israel as each day requires, so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God and there is no other. Your heart must be wholly devoted to the LORD, our God, observing his statutes and keeping his commandments, as on this day.”
The Word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm -
Psalm 138
R. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
with all my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels
I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple,
and give thanks to your name.
R. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
Because of your kindness and your truth
for you have made great above all things
your name and your promise
When I called, you answered me
You built up strength within me.
R. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
The Lord is exalted, yet the lowly he sees,
and the proud he knows from afar.
Though I walk amid distress,
you preserve me.
amidst the anger of my enemies,
you raise your hand.
R. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
Your right hand saves me;
The Lord will complete what
he has done for me.
Your kindness, O Lord, ensures forever;
forsake not the work of your hand.
R. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
Second Reading - Col. 3:12-17
Brothers and sisters:
Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved,
heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
bearing with one another and forgiving one another,
if one has a grievance against another;
as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.
And over all these put on love,
that is, the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ control your hearts,
the peace into which you were also called in one body.
And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,
as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another,
singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or in deed,
do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.
The Word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
Gospel -
John 15:9-17
Priest or Deacon: The Lord be with you.
ALL: And with your spirit.
Priest/Deacon: A reading from the Gospel according to John.
ALL: Glory to you, O Lord (while make a small sign of the Cross on the forehead, lips, and chest).
Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy might be complete.
This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing.
I have called you friends,
because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,
so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
This I command you: love one another.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Homily (please sit)
Nicene Creed (please stand)
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
General Intercessions:
After each prayer, respond: Lord, hear our prayer.

You have charged us through your Son, Jesus, with the great mission of evangelizing and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother, and ask for her intercession and guidance, as we strive to build a parish that loves God, embraces all people, and shares the Gospel joyfully.

Communion Hymn -
Give Thanks
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the holy one;
Give thanks because
He's given Jesus Christ, His son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the holy one;
Give thanks because
He's given Jesus Christ, His son.
And now let the weak say, “I am strong,”
Let the poor say, “I am rich,”
Because of what the Lord has done for us;
And now let the weak say, “I am strong,”
Let the poor say, “I am rich,”
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give, thanks. Give, thanks!
Communion Song #2 - 853 - All People That On Earth Do Dwell
1. All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
Him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell;
Come we before him, and rejoice.
2. Know that the Lord is God indeed;
Without our aid he did us make.
We are his folk, he does us feed,
And for his sheep he does us take.
3. O enter then his gates with praise;
Approach with joy his courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless his Name always,
For it is seemly so to do.
4. For why? the Lord our God is good:
His mercy is for ever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.
5. Praise God, from whom all
blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, you heav'nly host:
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Recessional Hymn - 636 - Now Thank We All Our God
Now thank we all our God
With hearts and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things has done,
In whom his world rejoices;
Who from our mothers' arms
Has blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love,
And still is ours today.
O may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us,
Preserve us in his grace,
And guide us when in distress,
And free us from all harm
Till heaven we possess.
All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son and him who reigns,
With them in highest heaven
The one eternal God,
Whom heav’n and earth adore;
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.
