Wedding Mass - Ooha and Sri

Prelude Music

Processional Music:

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

1. Love divine, all loves excelling,

Joy of heav'n to earth come down!

Fix in us your humble dwelling,

All your faithful mercies crown.

Jesus, source of all compassion,

Love unbounded, love all pure;

Visit us with your salvation,

Let your love in us endure.

2. Come, Almighty, to deliver,

Let us all your life receive;

Suddenly return and never,

Nevermore your temples leave.

You we would be always blessing,

Serve you as your hosts above,

Pray, and praise you without ceasing,

Glory in your precious love.

3. Finish then your new creation,

Pure and spotless, gracious Lord.

Let us see your great salvation

Perfectly in you restored.

Changed from glory into glory,

Till in heav'n we take our place,

Till we sing before the Almighty

Lost in wonder, love and praise.

Liturgy of the Word

FIRST READING

A reading from the Book of Tobit                                      8:4b-8

On their wedding night Tobiah arose from bed and said to his wife, “Sister, get up. Let us pray and beg our Lord to have mercy on us and to grant us deliverance.”

 Sarah got up, and they started to pray and beg that deliverance might be theirs.  They began with these words:

“Blessed are you, O God of our fathers; praised be your name forever and ever. Let the heavens and all your creation praise you forever.

You made Adam and you gave him his wife Eve to be his help and support; and from these two the human race descended. You said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone; let us make him a partner like himself.’

Now, Lord, you know that I take this wife of mine not because of lust, but for a noble purpose.
Call down your mercy on me and on her and allow us to live together to a happy old age.’

They said together, “Amen, Amen.”

 The Word of the Lord

ALL   - Thanks be to God.

 Responsorial Psalm

All sing:

May the Lord bless us,
May the Lord protect us,
All the days,
all the days of our lives.

Second Reading

Second Reading from the First Letter of St. Paul to Corinthians 13:1-13
(read in Telugu the language of Sri and Ooha)

A reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.

Brothers and sisters:
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The Word of the Lord.

ALL: Thanks be to God

Gospel
Acclamation (please stand)

Gospel Reading

The Gospel from Matthew 5:13-16
(read in Telugu the language of Sri and Ooha)

Priest: A Reading from the Holy Gospel According to Matthew

ALL: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lamp stand, where it gives light to all in the house.

Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

Offertory Hymn - Not for Tongues of Heaven’s Angels

Not for tongues of heaven’s angels,
Not for wisdom to discern,
Not for faith that masters mountains,
For this better gift we yearn:
May love be ours, Lord,
May love be ours.
May love be ours, O Lord.

Love is humble,
love is gentle,
Love is tender, true, and kind;
Love is gracious, ever patient,
Generous of thought and mind.
May love be ours, Lord,
May love be ours.
May love be ours, O Lord

Never jealous, never selfish,
Love will not rejoice in wrong;
Never boastful nor resentful,
Love believes and suffers long:
May love be ours, Lord,
May love be ours.
May love be ours, O Lord

Recessional - Joyful, Joyful

Joyful, joyful, we adore you,

God of glory, Lord of love;

Hearts unfold like flow'rs before you,

Opening to the sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;

Drive the dark of doubt away;

Giver of immortal gladness,

Fill us with the light of day!

2. All your works with joy surround you,

Earth and heav'n reflect your rays,

Stars and angels sing around you,

Center of unbroken praise.

Field and forest, vale and mountain,

Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea,

Chanting bird, and flowing fountain,

Sound their praise eternally!

3. You are giving and forgiving,

Ever blessing, ever blest,

Wellspring of the joy of living,

Ocean depth of happy rest!

God our Father, Christ our brother,

Let your light upon us shine;

Teach us how to love each other,

Lift us to the joy divine.

4. Mortals, join the mighty chorus,

Which the morning stars began;

God's own love is reigning o'er us,

Joining people hand in hand.

Ever singing, march we onward,

Victors in the midst of strife;

Joyful music leads us sunward

In the triumph-song of life.
