26th Sunday in Ordinary Time - 11am - Combined Rite

Today we will have the Combined Rite for Entrance into the Catechumenate and of Welcoming the Candidates - an important step in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).

The Rite of Entrance is for those who were never baptized, while the Welcoming of Candidates is for those who were baptized, but are seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church.

This is the first public declaration these Catechumens and Candidates are making. Our parish community is called to witness their journey and to pray for them.

Entrance Antiphon

O Lord, you had just cause to judge men as you did; because we sinned against you and disobeyed your will. But now show us your greatness of heart, and treat us with your unbounded kindness.

Receiving the Candidates

The Candidates and Catechumens will be called by name and will state their intent. They will then be marked with the Sign of the Cross on their foreheads, ears, eyes, lips, chest, hands, and feet.

Offertory Hymn - Let Us Return

Come, let us return to the Lord.
